Residential Installer: As the name implies, HVAC Residential Installers are typically responsible for the installation of new heating and air conditioning equipment following manufacturers guidelines, blueprints, and schematics. An installer might also fabricate and install a wide range of duct systems; install copper refrigerant lines to air conditioning units, including brazing and soldering; install electrical components and wiring; repair or replace defective equipment, components, or wiring; install energy efficient thermostats; and test and troubleshoot new installations on start-up. Installers frequently engage with homeowners and must demonstrate excellent customer service skills.
Residential Service Technician: Residential Service Technicians diagnose and repair a wide variety of residential heating and air conditioning systems according to company standards, and providing the customer with a high-quality experience while working under minimum or no supervision.Demonstrating technical competency and excellent communication skills, Residential Service Technicians ask the right lifestyle questions to troubleshoot heating and cooling system malfunctions. In addition to fixing the problem, they educate and assist customers by explaining replacement options for aging, inefficient or under-performing systems. Excellent customer interactions are paramount to ensure repeat business. They must maintain a clean, organized job site and well-inventoried truck. Service Technicians are often also experienced HVAC Residential Installers.
